Brief Description:  AeroInjector connections

Drilled and tapped two holes in the AeroInjector inlet to mount the air filter. The instructions say one bolt is enough, but I found the filter rocked around loosly with one bolt. Two at 90 degrees makes a firm connection. I used AN3-12A bolts with two washers so the tip of the bolt was just about flush with the inside of the inlet throat. Used blue Locktite 242 on the bolts.

Needed to updrill the hole in the Injector that secures the mixture jacket. The jacket diameter was about 0.218 so I used a #2 drill (0.221). Made up the mixture control cable. I marked where the outer jacket needed to be cut with the 2" of exposed core when in the full rich position. I then pulled the mixture handle out about 3-1/4" (3-3/8" is maximum). I cut the cable at my mark with a cutoff grinder. Pushed the mixture back into the full rich position and the interior cable was then exposed to be connected. When I connected the cable core to the mixture arm as shown in the instructions, the cable retainer would bind on the mixture arm preventing the mixture control from moving correctly. I through tapped the retainer with an 8-32 and installed a longer set screw from the back of the retainer. This clamped the cable to the outside of the retainer, allowing the retainer to swivel freely in the mixture arm. Added an AN960-416L washer to take up the slop in the assembly.

Marked the throttle cable jacket where it needed to be cut at the throttle control. I removed the cable from the Injector and pulled the interior cable well back up the jacket. I then cut the outer jacket at my mark. Cleaned up the inside of the cut end with a drill bit where the nylon liner had melted while cutting the armor jacketed cable. Slid the core back in the jacket, and connected the carb end. I needed to enlarge the retainer hole at the throttle a few thousanths to get the cable in. Tightened the retainer nut just enough to clamp the cable and still leave the retainer free to swivel.
